Kimberley Forest

The Kimberley Forest is located in southern Ontario's Beaver Valley, at the southern tip of Georgian Bay. The Beaver River flows north across the base of the forest and through the valley, emptying into Georgian Bay in the town of Thornbury. The Bruce Trail runs north to south through the forest connecting Beaver Valley Ski Club and the old Talisman Mountain Resort. The Kimberley Forest is comprised of approximately 1,000 acres of primarily Crown land owned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and managed by agreement with The Friends of the Kimberley Forest Committee. In addition there are connected forested sections that are owned and maintained by the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and Municipality of Grey Highlands. The sheer size of the Kimberley Forest, and its amazing natural resources and topography, create an ideal setting for many forms of outdoor recreation. In accordance with the MNR's Free Use Policy, all users of public land should be prepared to undertake their activities in an ecologically sound and socially responsible manner, while also accepting the risks associated with such activities. Permitted activities within the provincial Crown lands of the Kimberley Forest include: Hiking, Biking, Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Walking, Bird Watching, and Licenced Hunting, Fishing and Trapping.
